Book Discussion of Astrophysics is Easy! : An Introduction for Amateur Astronomers

Salina Astronomy Club (SAC) members will get together on Monday, 4-May-2026, 6:30 PM, at Perkins Restaurant, 3050 Riffel Dr., Salina, KS; to begin our discussion of Astrophysics is Easy! by Michael Inglis.  If you are interested in joining the discussion, then obtain a copy of the 2023 Third Edition in either paperback or ebook format. The price Amazon is about $32. If you ordered the book, but will not see before 4-May, then consider borrowing the eBook version from your local library.  Salina Public Library has the 2014 2nd edition thru their Hoopla online borrowing app.  We will discuss the Preface, Rational, and at some of Chap 1, titled Tools of the Trade on 4-May.  Hopefully, all will go away with a better understanding of 1.1 Angular Measurement, 1.2 Distance in Astronomy, 1.3 Brightness and Luminosity of Astronomical Object, 1.4 Magnitudes, 1.5 The Visually Brightest Stars, and more in Chap 1. The author intersperses these sections with observable examples.  Some of these in our northern skies may be fun to look for. At future discussions we hope to plow through all the book's chapters.   ALL are welcome to participate in the discussion.

Please let me know if you wish to participate in the book discussion by emailing me at jeffreyk1631@gmail.com.  If group size is too large, we may need to find different venue for future monthly book discussions.
